Welcome to the Shrewsbury Fairtrade website

The "Fairtrade Town Shrewsbury" steering group was established to work towards making Shrewsbury a Fairtrade Town.

This was achieved in 2011, and renewed in 2012, in February 2015, in July 2017 and again in October 2019

Following changes to the system, we have now been accepted as a "Fairtrade Community"

The group exists to support and encourage schools, places of worship and businesses in Shrewsbury to sell and use Fairtrade products, and to promote the understanding of fair trade principles in the community.

Fairtrade is about better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability, and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world.

Our vision is of a world in which justice and sustainable development are at the heart of trade structures and practices so that everyone, through their work, can maintain a decent and dignified livelihood and develop their full potential.

In recent years, we have been privileged to host two Fairtrade producers in Shrewsbury.

To find out from them what Fairtrade has meant in their lives, and the lives of their communities, please click on their stories.
